Siddaramaiah: State Cabinet expansion on December 22

Prime News, Karnataka, Bengaluru, December 6:- Formerchief minister and chairman of the Coordination Committee of Congress-JD(S) coalition government Siddaramaiah on Wednesday announced that cabinet expansion in the state will take place on December 22.

Addressing media persons after attending the committee meeting here, Siddaramaiah said, “We (Congress-Janata Dal (Secular)) had co-ordination meeting today as Assembly session is approaching. We spoke about Cabinet expansion which will take place on December 22. Two MLAs from JD(S) and six MLAs from Congress will be inducted in the Cabinet.”

“We have also decided to appoint some legislators of both parties as chairmen of the state-run corporations and boards after the cabinet expansion the same day,” said Siddaramaiah.

Denying dissidence in the Congress, Siddaramaiah said all the legislators were with the party and there was no threat to the coalition government.

Reportedly,Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy in May had assured the Congress that the party would get a greater share in the next round of Cabinet expansion.
The other four members of the committee are Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy of the JD(S), Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwara of the Congress, JD(S) general secretary Danish Ali and Congress state unit in-charge K C Venugopal.
The two parties – Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) had inked a post-poll pact in the state Assembly elections held in May this year to oust the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) — which had emerged as the single-largest party. (Inputs: Agencies, NGB)
