Mysuru, December 6:- Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore (UoM Prof G Hemanth Kumar on Thursday said that the life, struggle and messages of Dr B R Ambedkar are inspiring even for foreigners.
He was speaking after inaugurating photography exhibition, documentary and special lecture to mark the Parinirvana Diwas of Dr Ambedkar at Dr B R Ambedkar Research and Extension Centre of UoM, organised in association by the centre and Paduvarahalli Government High School.
“We have to remember Ambedkar’s life every other day. Such was his character. He attained parinirvana on this day in 1956. He fought for equality. He struggled to get his education. We have to make the students know all these issues,” he said.
“The day is also celebrated as World Knowledge Day by the United Nations. Students have to understand how much Dr Ambedkar struggled in life to reach this level. The government has to take initiative to make a museum of great personalities to make the next generations to understand them. The university has received grants and we will work on it,” he added.
Writer and thinker Mangaluru Vijaya Saheba delivered a special lecture.
Headmaster of Paduvarahalli Government High School T J Anand, convener of Dr B R Ambedkar Study and Research Centre Dr S Narendra Kumar, N Shivananjaiah and others were present. (MR/GK)
